Drill pipe internal wiper.
Merit’s wiper balls are made of natural rubber. They can be used in a temperature range of – 40°C to 300°C.
The drill pipe foam wiper ball has a parting stretch of 380 to 440%. That means it can pass through small restrictions without being damaged.
The foam wiper balls may be damaged when pumped through restrictions as small as those listed in this column.
The drilling foam wiper ball is designed to wipe drill pipe or tubing string clean of cement, fluids, or debris. These can be also used to separate fluids.
Merit’s foam wiper ball can be loaded into drill pipe or tubing connections. It easily passes through internal upset restrictions such as mechanical setting tools, diverters and liner running tools. By the way multiple balls also can be pumped if necessary. Foam wiper balls have been used with all types of drilling and displacement fluids.
An oil platform, offshore platform, or (colloquially) oil rig is a large structure with facilities to drill wells, to extract and process oil and natural gas, or to temporarily store product until it can be brought to shore for refining and marketing. In many cases, the platform contains facilities to house the workforce as well.
Depending on the circumstances, the platform may be fixed to the ocean floor, may consist of an artificial island, or may float. Remote subsea wells may also be connected to a platform by flow lines and by umbilical connections. These subsea solutions may consist of one or more subsea wells, or of one or more manifold centres for multiple wells.
